Affiliate disclosure

Home and Habit is a small, independent, Canadian-run site. Many of the product links on this site are affiliate links: if you click one and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission from the retailer. This never changes the price you pay.

Home and Habit is a participant in the Amazon Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.ca. We’re also affiliated with other retail and affiliate networks, including IKEA, Impact, and Rakuten Advertising programs, on the same basis.

We only recommend things we’d genuinely use — commission is never the reason a product appears on this site. Every product page and card is labelled “Affiliate link” so it’s always clear which links these are.

We count page views and clicks on product links with AnalyticsTrend, an analytics service built for privacy. It sets no cookies and doesn’t fingerprint your device, which is why there’s no cookie banner here to click through.

Nothing it records identifies you. Your IP address is used only to work out which country and region (a state or province) a visit comes from, and is then discarded rather than stored. The only identifier is a random one kept in your browser’s own storage: it isn’t derived from you or your device, and it can’t be matched to you on any other site.

It records only what tells us which pages and products are useful: the pages you visit and how long each one was on your screen, the site or campaign that sent you here (the site’s name, never the full address you came from), and which product links you click. It also notes the kind of browser, operating system and device, such as Firefox on Android on a phone, and the language your browser asks for, such as Portuguese, all read from what your browser sends with each request and then discarded. Never a version, a model or a region of a language. The data is stored in Canada.

If your browser sends Global Privacy Control, a privacy setting offered by browsers such as Firefox and Brave, none of this happens: no identifier is stored and your visit isn’t recorded.

Questions about this disclosure or how a specific recommendation was chosen? We’re always happy to explain.
